Why Iran Labels Argentina as an Enemy

Iran has filed a complaint with the United Nations regarding the "illegality" of the Israeli attack on civilian and military infrastructure, as well as on its nuclear program. The report outlined the nations that stood with Israel, and Argentina was named as one of the few countries globally that endorsed and justified the actions of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) on Iranian soil. This stance is based on remarks made by Argentine President Javier Milei, who referred to Iran as an "enemy of Argentina" during the Twelve-Day War. Specifically, the document presents two accusations against the South American nation: In paragraph 92, the report mentions: “Several other nations have voiced their support for the aggressive acts of the Zionist regime against Iran. Among them are Canada, Argentina, the Czech Republic, and Paraguay. ” Later, in paragraph 94, the document clarifies: “On June 13, 2025, the President of Argentina, Javier Milei, endorsed the military actions of the Zionist regime against Iran and condemned the Iranian defensive strikes against the Zionist regime, expressing his support for prior military actions by Israel. ” While Milei's support for Israel has been clear and was made evident through numerous trips, along with the choice to relocate the Argentine embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, there are suspicions regarding his presence in Israel just before the U. S. attack on Iranian nuclear sites. The situation of Rafael Grossi, the Argentine head of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), is also highlighted, as he raised concerns about the uranium enrichment program and faced threats from the Shiite regime.
