Were 32 Cubans killed during Maduro's arrest?

Last Sunday, the governments of Cuba and Venezuela admitted that dozens of "Cuban combatants" died in the US offensive in the South American country, representing the first official confirmation of what has been an open secret for years in that nation: the existence of Castro's agents in the highest positions of the Chavista security system. Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel stated that the Cubans "were carrying out missions on behalf of the Ministry of the Interior and the Revolutionary Armed Forces, at the request of counterpart entities in that nation." He also specified that during the capture of President Nicolás Maduro and his wife, they died "after a tenacious resistance, fighting directly against the assailants or as a result of the bombing of the facilities." The Venezuelan government, in turn, stated that the personnel "were acting within the context of cooperation between sovereign states and were performing institutional protection and defense functions." In his message, Foreign Minister Yván Gil emphasized the "historical bonds of brotherhood" between the two nations and added that the fighters "gave their lives fulfilling their duty."
