Trump orders the resumption of nuclear weapons testing in the United States, something that hasn't happened in over 30 years.
To keep pace with other nations, such as China and Russia, President Donald Trump instructed US military leaders to restart nuclear weapons testing. Trump wrote on social media: "I have instructed the War Department to begin testing our nuclear weapons on a level playing field due to other countries' testing programs," shortly before meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping in South Korea. Trump claimed that the United States has more nuclear weapons than any other nation, with Russia in second place and China a "distant third." However, the country has not conducted nuclear tests for more than three decades. The statement comes just days after Trump denounced Russia for testing a nuclear-powered missile, which he claims has unlimited range. After the meeting between Xi and Trump, held on the presidential plane Air Force One, the US president announced that the locations for the nuclear tests would be defined later.
