Maduro calls on Russia and China "during these difficult times that Venezuela is experiencing" amidst tensions in the Caribbean.
Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro highlighted his rapprochement with China and Russia on Monday as tensions escalate over the US deployment in the Caribbean following the designation of the so-called Cartel of the Suns as a foreign terrorist organization. He affirmed that the relationship with China is "solid, extensive, and reliable." The head of state added: "During these times that Venezuela has faced, the relationship with China has passed the test with flying colors, and this moment has been an opportunity to intensify and strengthen it in all areas of cooperation." Regarding Russia, Maduro alluded to the letter sent to him by President Vladimir Putin the day before his birthday, in which the Russian leader reaffirmed his support for Venezuela and expressed faith that the nation "will overcome all challenges with dignity." Maduro emphasized that the two governments are establishing an intergovernmental commission to finalize "new agreements and action plans in the oil, financial, military, cultural, educational, scientific and technological fields."
