Lula argues that a military intervention in Venezuela would be "a disaster for humanity"
Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, president of Brazil, warned this Saturday during the Southern Common Market (Mercosur) Summit that a potential military intervention in Venezuela would result in a humanitarian disaster and set a serious precedent for all of South America. Lula da Silva, alluding to the United States' presence in the Caribbean off the Venezuelan coast, stated: "The continent is once again under threat from the military presence of a superpower, forty years after the Falklands War." The Brazilian president added that a potential military intervention in Venezuela, like the one US President Donald Trump threatened, "would be a disaster for humanity."
