Kast meets with Noboa and reaffirms his offer to establish a corridor for the return of Venezuelan migrants.
José Antonio Kast, the president-elect of Chile and a far-right politician, stated this Tuesday that he spoke with Daniel Noboa, the Ecuadorian president, about his suggestion to establish a "humanitarian corridor" so that migrants from their countries can return to Venezuela. He had previously presented this idea in Buenos Aires, during a meeting with Javier Milei, the Argentine leader. "What we have proposed on this tour is the creation of a humanitarian corridor so that individuals who are in the country irregularly in Ecuador, Peru, and Chile have the opportunity to return to their homeland; furthermore, we ask the Venezuelan government to open its borders to allow the return of those who wish to do so," Kast declared at a press conference. Kast stated that everyone was "aware of the problem" and had "the same feeling caused by an illegitimate ruler in Venezuela," although he did not specify what the Ecuadorian leader's response was.
