In Reggio Calabria, an Italian woman accused of murdering her three newborns was arrested.
The woman's relatives stated that, at the time, her daughter had been admitted to the Reggio Calabria General Hospital due to severe hemorrhage, just before the babies were found. They claimed they never knew she was pregnant. The young woman stated that she was generally unwell and denied being pregnant when she was admitted to the hospital, where a uterine curettage was performed. Biological analyses, performed on organic material confiscated at the hospital where the woman was treated, confirmed that the newborns were her children, that they were born alive and died of asphyxiation.
