Chato, the famous police dog of the Special marched for the 204th anniversary of Peru's Independence
In an event filled with symbolism and emotion, Chato, the famous police dog of the Special Operations Division (DINOES) of the Peruvian National Police (PNP), marched for the last time in the Grand Civic-Military Parade and Parade on July 29th, as part of the celebrations for the 204th anniversary of Peru's Independence. At approximately 10 years of age, this elite dog closes his operational career, having become an institutional icon and in the hearts of the public. Dressed in his characteristic tactical uniform—beret, vest, identification, and patches detailing his blood type and specialized training—Chato walked down Avenida Brasil for the last time, receiving a standing ovation from hundreds of attendees. His farewell was met with applause, excited glances, and gestures of recognition from his fellow unit members, who accompanied him on this final march.
